Actie XR Limburg:
Op zaterdag 27 januari rond 12.30 uur zal Extinction Rebellion stoffen lozen in de Roer.
We verzamelen om 12.00 uur op het station in Roermond en lopen vanaf daar samen een mars naar de lozingsplek. Sluit vooral aan!
Wij nemen een voorbeeld aan Chemelot, die al sinds jaar en dag allerlei stoffen loost in onze Maas. Elk jaar loost Chemelot meer dan 14 ton microplastics en 661 verschillende chemische stoffen, waaronder zware metalen en vele honderden opkomende stoffen.
Deze giflozingen worden toegestaan door het Waterschap Limburg, die hiervoor een vergunning heeft verleend. De handhaving van deze vergunning is niet transparant en schiet schromelijk tekort.
Wat Chemelot kan, dat kunnen wij ook. Chemelot kan zonder enige belemmering lozen in de Maas wat zij willen, dus we gaan ervan uit dat wij ook geen problemen zullen ondervinden wanneer wij stoffen gaan lozen in de Roer.
Als we wel worden tegengehouden, verwachten wij dat er ook zal worden opgetreden tegen de lozingen van Chemelot in de Maas.

On Saturday 27 January around 12.30pm, Extinction Rebellion will discharge substances into the Roer river.
We will gather at 12.00 at the railway station in Roermond and march together from there to the discharge site. Please join us!
We take our cue from Chemelot, which has been discharging all kinds of substances into our Meuse for years. Every year, Chemelot discharges more than 14 tonnes of microplastics and 661 different chemicals, including heavy metals and many hundreds of emerging substances.
These toxic discharges are permitted by the Limburg Water Board, which has issued a permit for this purpose. The enforcement of this permit is not transparent and is grossly inadequate.
What Chemelot can do, we can do too. Chemelot can discharge what they want into the Maas without any hindrance, so we assume that we won't encounter any problems either when we start discharging substances into the Roer.
If we do get stopped, we expect that action will also be taken against Chemelot's discharges into the Maas.
